Beyond rescue?

My attempts look a bit ... ugh ... horrible.
Could some cross processesing action be applied here, maybe, in the way Kalee does to her daughter's pics?
Or would any of you have any other idea for this one?

I can mail you the original file, may I?
Not that I hadn't taken at least 15 more pics of Sabine on that very occasion ... :er: ... but just for the challenge... ?
Thanks you to all for trying. May I collect all your edits (with name, of course, of who edited which) onto my harddrive?
Sure - go ahead :)
I'v had a quick play.... i'd do summin like this..... although the image was quite low rez... so some of my editing wouldn't work well on it..... i would make the eyes a bit sharper and stuff like that on a full rez version..... plus the skin is still uneven on these..... i'd sort that out too..... but just to give you an idea.

I think warmer colors make it stand out more. And of course contrast.
File's on the way.
Thanks in advance. :D

Bit of jpeg artefacting on it due to the size, but there you go.

Voila! She is ready ;)
I know that actually the situation in which I took this one was lighter. (Hence the overexposure on her face in the first place :irked: ). But I am happy to see that you are still interested in trying to help me rescue this particular photo of my daughter!!!

yea.... i had to duplicate the layer and use alot of the shadow/highlight filter to get rid of the hot spot on the forehead.... then i masked the rest of the image off..... so it was only showing in that area. After all the rest of the alterations..... i merged the lot together..... and then did the B+W conversion... but the original camera file would yield better results. ;)

My LCD monitor is awful for showing brightness.
Probably be able to lighten it with simple brightness/contrasts from there.
